What are the main reasons why they escape?
There are many causes which lead adolescents to make erroneous decisions, some are compressible, but others are because of the same age where they want to be independent and choose for themselves.
According to the National Runaway Safeline, children runaway because:

"47% of runaway youth report conflict between them and a parent/guardian in the home". In some of cases the most common factor that the teenagers escape from home is for to the rules, this causes problems and disagreements with their parents

"Over 50% of youth in shelters or on the streets reported that their parents told them to leave or knew they were leaving but did not care". This is usually contributed of throwaway children or children of "toxic parents", these have very common problems and disputes with parents, while some are not in accordance with the rules, this they are victims of abusive parents and without compassion the they were expulsed of the houses, not being their decision ,because of this they are called of this form

"80% of runaway & homeless girls reported having been sexually or physically abused". This subject is very delicate, but pitifully very common. This is generated by the family members themselves, uncles, stepfathers, cousins, even the same father

Other factors that cause them to escape from home are problems at school, which may include sexual, physical, mental or verbal abuse; whether from a teacher, a friend or a derivative

And a special case for girls, who became pregnant, who do not know how to tell their parents and who think they are going to punish them, choose to leave thinking that of all the options they have, that is the best
Now that you are on the street what should really be your concern and how far away from the problems?
However, although many of the adolescents think that their problems ended up in the streets they are very wrong because they got "in the mouth of the wolf" since there are many dangers, and taking refuge in it is not recommended, but for the throwaway is understandable since they had no other option and at the time the nerves did not think well where they should ask for help. Most of the teenagers who run away from home are usually only gone for a couple of days. They realize very quickly how hard it is to survive by themselves and return back home
And at that moment the most important issue that you should now think about is survival, survival while running away, really depends on where they end up living. If teens run away to friends, relatives or shelters, their basic needs are met. Teens who end up on the streets must learn to become independent very quickly. Usually, this independence comes at a price, since this type of survival is very hard. Methods for survival may include:- Stealing
- Begging
- Selling drugs
- Prostitution
All this is the key to really know how serious the consequences are 7% of youth in runaway and homeless youth shelters and 14% of youth on the street had traded sex for money, food, shelter, or drugs in the last twelve months when surveyed in 1995, this is the kind of survival that you have to face, imagine that if 1995 had that percentage, which has increased so much for these times

Also because of the sale of drugs to survive they become addicted, and they do not necessarily have to distribute the drug, some only dedicate themselves to consuming it as a product of depression and as a consequence of this chain of endless pain, 32% of runaway and homeless youth have attempted suicide at some point in their lives.
